Duck Day

Each year the village of Beetham hold what is known as Duck Day. A mad-cap day of Rubber Duck racing along the River Bella.  This was was the first time we had taken part in the event and what a day it was, sunshine, games, new friends and just a great day of family fun.

The Ducks are released in waves along The Bella, each duck has a number and if you have placed your bet on that number you win the round.  The winners from each round go into heats and eventually one Duck is victorious and a winner is crowned.  The field next to Bella plays host the event and stalls of cakes, tombolas and rubber duck shooting are erected, on a sunny day what could be better.

The Inn is lucky enough to host the after party and the years victor gets to spend his or her winnings!

As part of the celebrations all the village gets dressed and cottages are adorned with imaginative Duck decorations, we were very proud to be the proud winners of this years ‘Best Newcomer’ award.
